Thai-Style Chili Chicken

Thai-Style Chili Chicken

Delicious, sweet pieces of chicken with garlic and chili. Like most Asian dishes, this one is quick and simple to make. Today’s recipe has exceptionally few ingredients, which will certainly please some of you 😉. This recipe comes from Rasa Malaysia, one of my favorite food blogs. With this dish, you can enjoy a little taste of Thailand on your plate in a quick and easy way!

Ingredients:

For the chicken:

  • 250 g chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed

  • 4 tbsp sweet chili sauce

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • ½ tsp sesame seeds

  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley or fresh coriander

  • Oil for deep-frying

For the batter:

  • 1 egg white

  • ½ cup flour

  • ¼ cup cornstarch

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • ½ cup cold water

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients for the batter and add the chicken. Mix well so that each piece is completely coated in the batter.

  2. Heat a generous amount of oil (about 1.5 cm deep) in a deep pan or wok. Fry the chicken, placing the pieces carefully into the hot oil one by one. Cook until golden brown.

  3. In another pan (or the same one, cleaned), heat 1 tbsp oil and lightly sauté the garlic. Don’t let it brown—just release its aroma.

  4. Add the fried chicken, sweet chili sauce, and lemon juice. Stir everything together and heat through.

  5. Sprinkle with parsley (or coriander) and sesame seeds. Serve with rice or noodles.
